Christmas 2006 - Candle

As always, making of the star leadsto great excitement and terpidation.

Excitement for the nights out on the terrace with hot kababs and warm spirits to terpidation to what should be made, how big, how much cloth, paint, paper , glue etc.

Well in 2006 - it was decided that we would be different - we would not make a Star but a Candle.
Here a some of the photos sent in by Arthur of that effort.

Unlike earlier years - this candle broke all traditions
  • It was made in 2 days not 11.
  • It was made in the day, not night
  • It was made by not only by the colony boys (Sheldon, Jinho, Dharmesh et all) but also by the expats (Arthur, Javie, Patty, Caje, Niru) and their families.
But like tradition - it was up before midnight mass.

Thomas Albuquerque Memorial Football tournament

Remember Tommy (of Tommy & his bunch of Bananas fame) from Fatima building.

Those who do, will also remember him at parties; with his glass and cigarette in one hand and the other wildly moving to keep beat with his rendition of R.O.C.K. rock rock rock

After Tommy passed away his Brother in law Greg and nephew Hillary were instrumental in setting up an annual Football

tournament in his name which is open to all teams in Mahim.

For the first time since inception, the Marinagar team brought home the trophy.

Here are some photos of the after- party (obviously) - sent in by Hillary

The tournament is incidental for what follows - when we win, we celebrate; when we lose, we drown our sorrows...cheers

the earlier Marinagar site

You might want to check out the site created by Javie some time ago - it has some fab photos of the Marinagar of old, some history and the famous Marinagar wit.
